Warehouse #13; [Brandin/Jace only, for the moment]

The warehouse was mostly empty, not having been developed really. And it didn't hold much. The rooms were bare and concrete. However, the basement had a few choice pieces of decor.

Not that metal bars could be considered decor, really.

There were exactly three cells in the room. Two were empty. One contained Mr. Brandin Faye, reunited with his own body. As he remained unconscious on a small cot, a long gash up his forearm was slowly disappearing.

Also unconscious and tied to a chair outside of the cells was Jason Varey. He, too, was back in the form he was supposed to be in. And he, like Brandin, was unconscious as his arm healed.

They had been there a total of two hours when the two began to stir. When they did woke up, at first no one was in sight. The warehouse was dimly lit and silent, actually.

Until they heard distant footsteps sounding like they were coming from somewhere upstairs...

Jace woken up with an instant fight or flight reaction, jerking, but not getting anywhere. It took him a few minutes to be able to open his eyes, but he was still feeling. He was tightly bound to a chair, of some sort, certainly not in the same place he'd started with.

So finally he opened his eyes, adjusting to the near lack of light in the room. Taking in concrete, taking in the cages, taking in the guy laying on a cot in one of three cages - he was not in a cage? Good - and seeing a cut healing. A cut similar to the one they had experienced when they first changed bodies.

So Jace looked down at his arm - his own arm - and watched the cut disappear. Strange.

He struggled against the bonds for a moment, wondering if now, with his own strength back, he might be able to break them.

No such luck.

"Wake up." Jace then turned his attention to Brandin, his voice gruff.

Brandin was already awake when Jace spoke to him, but he hadn't really moved yet. I'm sorry, had been what he'd read in such elegant script. Apologies were universal, of course, but usually he paid them no heed. They were spoken selfishly, simply so the person talking alleviated guilt. At best, they were not meant at all.

This one, for some bizarre reason, was resonating with him. Someone was truly sorry. Himself? Eh. He didn't particularly care; wherever he was he was clearly back in his own body, and feeling far more awake than he had in days.

Finally letting his eyes snap open, he took a second to watch the magical gash close, curious to the last. Then he swiveled to a stand, ignoring the cot or the bars and taking in the body he'd spent the last month in tied to a chair. His eyebrow predictably launched.

"Well this can't be good." He commented lightly, bringing his hands together and frowning. "Seeing the nature of your job, I'm going to assume you have enemies, but if I had to guess which would be responsible here; I'd go with the one who was just visiting our Chief's office, considering what seems to have been going on in that office. Andre Terminus."
I am nothing more than
A little boy inside
That cries out for attention
Yet I always try to hide
Cause I talk to you like children
Though I don't know how I feel
But I know I'll do the right thing
If the right thing is revealed

The footsteps upstairs were getting closer, definitely heading down to the basement, where the room with the cells was. It was apparent that there was more than one person, although no one was talking. There were three people, actually, headed down. One was leading the other two. Well, leading one. More like guiding the other.

And then they turned the corner into the room...

There was a part of Julie that knew she had to protest this more. Yet the rest of her just didn’t care, and at the moment, she was more than willing to go along with that part. It didn’t matter that it was Andre leading her down to somewhere unknown, in some warehouse in Italy. She’d gotten a letter telling her to go there. The letter had been a Portkey, and she’d found herself standing in front of him.

He had told her to follow, and before she knew it, her legs were carrying her down the stairs, going somewhere with him. She didn’t know where, and it didn’t concern her. Nothing was really all that concerning at the moment.

When she got into the room and saw who was in there, it barely fazed her. That was Jace, sitting there. In that chair. Tied up. And she couldn’t remember for the life of her to do anything but stand there.

Cat could say with perfect honesty that she hated the man in front of her. She was following him because she had no choice. Andre Terminus had been furious with her for stealing the register from his house, for sending it back to the room it had come to. Of course, Andre was furious with her for a lot, including the letter she’d sent to her husband, trying to clue him in on exactly what was going on. She’d hoped that the style, the same one the two had used during the Virus, would have given him a clue as to who was writing him. Yet, he hadn’t even been aware she was helping him when he was standing right in front of him. But then, it was Brandin, so maybe he was.

Either way, she was quite cross with Deandre Terminus at the moment. And for once, she wasn’t bothering to hide that emotion as they entered into the room. She wasn’t surprised to see Brandin in the cage, nor was she particularly surprised to see Jason in the chair. She was the one, after all, who had just been down there. Down there with that knife. Again. There wasn’t much Catalina would shy away from, yet she knew that if she had any choice in the matter, she would never use that knife again.

Unfortuantely, choice was something she had precious little of these days.

When she saw that the two men were awake, her attention was zoned in strictly on Brandin. “Brandin, I--”

”Be quiet.”

As Andre barked the order at her, she glared at him but fell silent.

Accomplishment was one of the best feelings in the world. And at the moment? Andre was feeling quite accomplished himself. He’d succeeded where he’d wanted. And even after putting up with that damned secretary trying to get out of his control whenever she possibly could, he’d done it. He hadn’t underestimated her like he had Eve, which was key.

So now, watching her there, unable to say anything, he did feel accomplished. Particularly when he looked at the two men in front of him.

“Evening, gentlemen,” he greeted them, smirk in place. “I do hope you enjoyed my little experiment with you all. Too bad about the weakness. Didn’t realize that would be a side effect. Although, I can’t say it hurt my efforts any,” he commented. “When I planned it, I told her,” he continued, nodding his head over to Cat, “to pick someone weak who wouldn’t figure it out to be in Jason’s body. How does it feel, Mr. Faye, knowing she picked you? Her own husband?” He gave a short laugh.

“But I think there’s a lesson to be learned in all of this for both of you. Faye, you could stand to learn that women – even women you’re supposed to spend the rest of your lives with – are never to be trusted. Because your wife is responsible for bringing you to your life’s end today.”

He turned to look at Jason. “Don’t think I forgot about you, Varey. Today, you get to learn how it feels to be betrayed. To realize you’ve been looked in the eyes and lied to. To find out that someone you’ve grown to trust is the person responsible for hurting you most.”

And he pulled out his gun.

But instead of drawing it on Jace, he turned, pressing it into Julie’s hand. “She’s been quite the fan of all my suggestions lately,” he said. “Quite the turnaround, if I do say so myself.” And then he looked directly to her.

“Julie, kill Jason.”

Honestly. Cat could hardly even watch what was going on. It wasn't that she really cared about the Auror's life or Jason's. She didn't mind if they died. She just didn't want it to be because Andre had gotten the best of her. The second he'd come to her, right after he'd stolen that damn knife, she had wanted nothing to do with him. She liked controlling situations, not being controlled.

And he was determined not to let her. He was also determined to get someone to take the fall for him. And there was nothing she could do about it. When she got out of this, she was determined to make Andre Terminus see that the Imperius Curse would be the least of his worries.

But getting out of it was an entirely different story because for once, she didn't have a plan.

Jace stopped paying attention to Brandin the second he could see he was awake, and instead payed attention to the footsteps coming down the stairs. Three footfalls, a man, two women.

There were just mannerisms in how separate sexes walked. The concrete echoed.

In all honesty? There was not a whole lot of surprise in seeing Andre. The man would do whatever the hell he could to get what he wanted, no matter who he hurt or how or why. He was angry, yes, that he had been caught up in it all, but it was to be expected. He was surprised it took as long as it did.

However, when he looked past Andre, to look at who accompanied him? The saying 'he saw red' had never been more true. There was a moment where his vision tunneled, muscles groaning, skin stretching as he violently struggled against his ties, where his jaw settled down into a dangerous, clenched line, his eyes narrowed. He was shaking. He was literally shaking, with the fury that filled him.

Who the hell did Andre think he was? No one...no one was allowed to touch her. He'd already caused her to have a miscarriage, he'd already killed her friend, stolen children...just how far would he go?

Clearly, there were no boundaries. If he could just get out of the chair...he would shove it down that good-for-nothing bastard's throat, and watch him choke. He would tie him to the cage, see how that felt, and then use the metal bars for useful things. He would rip his limbs off, piece by piece. Insert needles into his head, shoot him, watch him bleed out...

It was frustrating him, how weak his body felt. That wasn't alright. It had been less than a month that Brandin was in it, and yet, he couldn't even break out of the goddamn chair. There was no budge, no fraying. It was just the same.

So Jace settled down as best as he could, still, but sprung, tense, prepared. He deliberately ignored Andre, for a moment, and spoke to Julie.

"Julie? I know you can hear me. And I know you probably can't respond to me, right now, but it's alright. It's all going to be alright."
It made sense now, Julie's behavior down at the DoM. It all made sense, and it made him even more angry to know that he had missed the clues, missed what he was supposed to be able to see in her. He'd blamed Brandin.

When Andre gave Julie his gun after some kind of triumphant speech - Jace honestly, just didn't give a shit - Jace looked at her, and then rolled his eyes at Andre.

"Am I supposed to flinch? Quiver? I betrayed my family because of you, why do you think it would bother me so much to be betrayed in the same?" Idiot. "I'm not surprised though. You never were able to fight like a man. Too afraid you'd lose?"

Jace had never hated him this thoroughly before.

"You deserved, being lied to, and hurt. I don't like sharing. She's not doing this on her own free will. This, doesn't hurt me. Maybe you should have thought things through further."

Brandin had been sitting with his eyes closed for a reason; he'd been puzzling the conversation he'd had with his wife out. Between her mentioning Andre and what he'd just said...he was not at all surprised by those who rounded the corner. Smirking slightly, his eyebrow still up, the only one that surprised him slightly was Varey's wife.

Well that explained why Varey had attacked him then. Imperius...made sense.

Honest to merlin, hearing Andre's words, Brandin had to close his eyes again and stifle a little laugh. He was just amused by this man honestly thinking he'd...got him, in some way. His eyebrow arched a little higher as Catalina snapped herself shut at the mans word -- quite the trick, honestly-- and he simply said first,

"Right. Because I definitely wouldn't have recognized my wife's handwriting, Andre, or known she knew who I was when talking with me. I'm not that dense."

Nope. Just amused.

"Oh, and just to set the record straight, I never trusted her to begin with." It was coldly spoken, without care, but there was something strange to his tone as well. It was not just amusement or lack of affection. "So if you're thinking this is some big betrayal...mate, it's no big surprise." Then he tilted his head and looked straight at Catalina. He blinked for a second. Then his eyebrow dropped and he said politely,

"Actually, I take one thing back. Cat, you're surprising me right now. There's just one bit of this that doesn't make complete sense." He crossed his arms on his chest honestly curious. If his life was going to end, he didn't particularly care. He wanted to learn until the end.

It was spoken incredulously and vehemently, "Why the hell are you listening to this idiot?" And he gestured Andre. "And I don't just mean, why you went on with this experiment. You just let him, tell you to shut up. Now, see, that's not like you."

He grinned just as simply and cast his eyes back on Andre. "See, Catalina loves playing on the idea that she can be ordered around or taken for granted...it works rather nicely for her, but it couldn't be further from the truth as I'm sure you've recently found out. If you were looking for betrayal here, I'd think she's about to bite you in the ass here."

He looked back at Catalina and simply shrugged, the colder amused tone weakening for a second as he added, "I know. It's all right."

The sad thing was that he did know. He did understand. He hadn't ever trusted her in the first place, but his cocky attitude with Andre was only because the guy was a moron. He tilted his head as well at Julie, at the order, at the man in the chair and frowned. That, however, was not his call. That was up to Jason and Julie. Did he think for one second Julie would kill Jason?

Absolutely. not.

He simply looked back at Catalina and folded his arms across his chest, leaning back against the cell door, staring at her. Staring at the woman who he might not trust or love...but he had come to care for in a strange way, and respect. He supposed that was the strange tone to his words. It wasn't betrayal...simply sadness.

For once in Brandin's life he wished it might not have to be this way. That trust might be allowed, or affection in a marriage genuine. It was a strange train of thought for him; he knew it wasn't correct at all, but he found himself going there while she looked back at him. He repeated his words.

"I understand, Cat."
I am nothing more than

He listened to Jason's rant, watched him struggle, truly amused. It was fine that he said didn't feel betrayed by this. Andre wasn't quite so sure that was true. But even if he didn't? Well, it was the final moments of his life anyways. It was funny watching him try to talk to her, to reason with her.

"You know, reasoning's not going to work. Nothing will. She's completely open to anything I might tell her to do." He definitely had his assurances on that one.

Andre, of course, wasn’t stupid. He knew that Cat had managed to warn people, and she’d probably managed to leave them a clue. She did seem rather fond of doing that. That much he knew. Eighteen of them to solve a virus apparently wasn’t enough for her tastes. She’d had to go warn Brandin, and he was honestly beginning to suspect that she would even warn others just so she could watch him fail. The bitch would derive satisfaction from that.

“I’m going to be heading off now. Catalina, make sure Julie’s task gets carried off, and see her off to her next… appointment,” he said. “Patronus me when the task is done. If you do not, you know what happens.”

It wasn't like there weren't security camera's there. So he Disapparated.

Even an instant device such as a portkey had clearly taken far too long in her opinion as Jana surveyed the scene when she rounded a corner. Brandin...in a cage. Catalina, standing to the side, Julie with a gun, and a defenseless, tied-up Jason...

"Bloody hell." She said simply, raising her wand and pointing it straight at Catalina. Whatever the hell was going on here? Questions were so much easier answered when there wasn't a bitch calling the shots. Honest to merlin, Jana had rather had it with Catalina's antics.

Just absolutely had it.

She knew Julie would never do this on her own; an imperius explained everything, including Jason's feud with Brandin that Brandin had been clueless over. Honestly, these facts just zoomed through her mind, because she'd already cast off Incarcerous at Catalina's back.

Maybe a bit harder than was necessary...

And then she turned, pointed the wand at the ropes, untying Jason.

It was really hard to ignore; the darkness, the cold, concrete, the dank smell...but focusing on the manner at hand was probably a smarter idea. And a more helpful idea. It was kind of a shock to see the couples, the expressions and set up. Jana had spelled the man in the chair to be free already, and was pointing her wand at Cat, but Juls tried to decide for a moment who was better to focus on; the woman with the gun, or the man in the cage?

The man who had been in the chair seemed entirely focused on the woman with the guy though, as she watched him slowly stand up, and slowly put his hands in the air.

Caged man it was.

She walked over to the bars and experimentally tapped them with her wand, making sure it wasn't electrical or something, and then paused. What had that spell been, that Llian used when they were in the Maze?

She was too frazzled, she couldn't remember. So instead she settled for a little less finesse, and bombarded the side he wasn't in.

Ah, he could climb out, for all she really cared.

Julie's hand was shaking as she picked up the gun and pointed it at Jace. All she really knew was that someone had told her to shoot him. And that was what she should do, wasn't it? It made perfect sense...

Except when he was talking to her. She could hear him tell her it was going to be all right, and it made her want to smile just a little. Did it make her want to put the gun down? No.

She just kept it in her hand, tuning out the talking going on around her. She was thinking. Or, trying to. She was going to kill him. Why? Because... well. She hadn't really stopped to consider why before. She just did things... because.

Yet now it was her husband sitting there in front of her, and she really was working hard at attempting to figure out why that should mean something to her. She should shoot him because she was told. She shouldn't because... did she want to? She didn't necessarily want to do as she was told. She just felt like it would be a good idea.

And she went for the trigger.

But another small, nagging thought caught her mind. She... cared about him. A great deal. And she didn't want to shoot him. She didn't want to try to kill him. She didn't want... any of this. Merlin, she barely even knew where she was. Perhaps a warehouse somewhere.

But she knew she didn't want to shoot him... Now the problem was attempting to resist the urge to. In the past however many days it had been, Julie honestly hadn't had an urge to do anything. She just went about her routine. Because she should. She basically did the same thing every day, and it had worked out for her. Finding the want to actually think about something, to go against any sort of suggestion, was difficult.

It was like lifting her mind out of an incredibly thick fog. And she didn't think she could do it. She started to remember all the reasons why she shouldn't kill him... and then her mind would go blank again.

Biting her lip nervously, she went to squeeze the trigger again.

And stopped again. Unable to think about logic and rationalizing things, she'd turned to simply thinking about Jace. He was her husband. That said quite a bit - he'd given up a lot to help her with Arram. And he was Arram's father. And the thing was? She truly cared about him beyond that. Although Julie had never exactly been comfortable with admitting it to herself, she did want to be with him beyond his role as her child's father, as the person who was going to help her in the trial. Funny how what she'd had the most reservations thinking about came out so easily when she barely had any thoughts at all.

She couldn't do it. She wouldn't do it. With a sudden resolve, she lowered the gun.

And then there were other people in the room, casting spells, untying Jace. She was still holding the gun, unsure of what to do with it. Although she had been told to kill. And she was having the urge to pull the trigger because of it.

But at who?

The man in the cage. Or...out of the cage now. Andre hadn't liked him. He'd mentioned him dying... Yes. Him. So she lifted the gun and pointed it at Brandin.

He made her run. Franco freakin Cisenerros had made her run. Honestly, if it wasn't for the hope of getting back into her normal body, she wouldn't have even bothered. Not to mention, warehouses were freaky places. A handgun in her right hand, and her wand in her left, Amaris skidded to a halt in what might have been the weirdest scene ever.

Everything seemed to be fairly under control, aside from a bound Catalina and Julie holding a gun. Amaris didn't know Julie very well, but she knew she wouldn't do that, not unless something freaky was going on. She turned the gun on Julie, instantly regretting it, and just said, "Julie, listen to me. Put down the gun." She didn't want to disarm her, for fear of the gun setting off, or do anything else with magic, it was too risky. And she wasn't prepared to witness yet another person be shot.

Lina was not dizzy or off-balanced as she took the port-key. That did not stop the shock that crossed her cheeks instantly as she saw her cousin pointing a gun a man crawling out of a bombarda'd cage. Within fifteen seconds, without a thought to how she did not look like herself, without thinking that she wasn't supposed to really know Julie, she'd yelled at the top of her lungs,

"Julie, what the bloody hell are you doing?" She'd crossed the room, not caring that there was a gun and stopped a few feet away from her, spying Jace. Not knowing that Jason and Brandin had switched back, she instantly assumed that Julie was pointing the gun at Jace and shook her head vehemently.

Her own wand was loose in one hand, but she kept her other hand up as though to echo her previous thought.

" Put the bloody gun down. This isn't you, Jules. I know you. Okay? Jace, knows you. This isn't you. And I know you're stronger than whatever the bloody hell curse you're under right now.."

Pft. A hell of a lot stronger. Julie was one of the strongest people she'd ever met.

Warehouses were creepy. They smelled, they were dark, and the concrete was just annoying. Cassie figured she'd probably develop a fear of warehouses or something from this. That, and letters from the Ministry. Definitely ignoring those from now on.

The scene in front of her immediately freaked her out, what with the lady with the gun and all. She reached for her wand - well, Amaris's - actually knowing where it was for once. She saw 'Jana' let the guy in the cage out, so that much was handled, right? So, she kept her wand gripped tightly in her hand as she watched Amaris in her body try to talk Julie out of it. She didn't want to have to fire off any spells, damn it, she didn't want to hurt anyone. She was so not cut out for this. Still, she was there and she most definitely wasn't going to just stand by and allow this lady to shoot anyone. No one was getting killed on her watch. So, she gripped her wand tighter and raised it slightly, in Julie's general direction, ready to fire off a spell if necessary, but not looking forward to it.

"Put the gun down," she said slowly. "Please?" Just to be polite.

It was expected to run into something strange at this point but the situation was still a shock. Jen didn't do well with group efforts to help in anything and she didn't think now was a time to give it a go. Everyone was finding someone to care of or at least attempt to. Why did everyone have to have some scheme? Something that completely screwed up lives? It was just downright frustrating. Side stepping near the cage she was doing simply to at least block the way.

It looked like someone was attempting to distract Julie but Jen felt better standing near whoever was the intended target. Why? Because that looked like one way to help. Exactly how she wasn't entirely sure. Block it if she did decide the wanted to pull the trigger? There were spells for that maybe, or not. Her wand, or rather Ali's, was probably in her back pocket which she took it out to have it at the ready.

Bloody coward! Jace watched Andre leave, all but grinding his teeth together. He wanted to be untied, take the gun Julie was weilding, and go after Andre himself, right that second.

But he had battling wants, at that moment. Someone was untying him - or at least the bonds were gone, and he muttered a thanks, but his gaze was left on Julie the entire time. On Julie, and that gun. He stood up, slowly, knowing that she had one thought, and that was to kill him, and then he put his hands up. Somehow, though Jace wasn't entirely sure why, he didn't have anything on him dangerous, that would be comforting.

"Julie." He said again, softly. "Julie, he's gone. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. Right now, you can turn the safety on, and we can go home. I'll make you dinner, and we can just spend time with Arram and Claire...just lower the gun. You don't want to shoot me. You don't want to be the weapon of revenge for Andre. He's gone."

Every sentence punctured a slight step forward, stopping when her fingers tighened against the trigger time and time agian. He could see she was struggling; and that made him grateful, at least. People under Imperius for a while...well, the longer they were under, the harder it was to fight, right? And it was really then that proved true strength of will.

Finally, Julie lowered the gun, and Jace hurried to her side, about to wrap his arms around her, ask if she was alright. His battling wants; going after Andre and killing him, versus making sure Julie was going to be fine. And really, in the end, Andre wasn't as important as all that. Jace wouldn't ever leave her alone after an experience like such she had been having.

Man, the trial would have a field day with this...

But Julie raised the gun to Brandin, and Jace wrapped his hand around hers. "Julie, stop. It's over, you're safe. You don't have to kill, you don't have to shoot. Just let go." He was just a tad annoyed at all the people telling her to put the gun down. That wasn't going to help, having her focus on too many things. Ah well, they were trying. He would just have to work around that.

Brandin was talking to her, and when he addressed her, she honestly didn't really care what Andre was doing at that given moment. She knew that, as determined as he was to kill Brandin for her mistakes, he was much more concerned with the other two. And it was a little surprising to hear Brandin talk to her like that.

He honestly was surprised that she was taking orders from him. It made her a bit pissed off, yes, because it wasn't like she had a choice in the matter.

And then.... Huh. Well, then he was telling her it was all right. That he understood. And he called her Cat, not Catalina. It was strange, hearing it from him. She believed him when he said he understood, but... for him to call her by her nickname? Brandin didn't do that. Which made it all the more apparent just how strange she was acting to him.

"I'm trying," she told Brandin honestly. "I'm going to--" What she was goin to say, however, was cut off when other people entered the room.

When Cat found herself tied up, she honestly wasn't surprised to see who had done it. She hardly even had a chance to react after Andre had left, and then there was Jana, automatically assuming she was the cause of everything. Well, this time she wasn't. Not willingly, anyways.

And now she couldn't even do anything to help if she wanted.... Or stop Julie from going after her husband with a gun. Damn it, if that woman shot Brandin instead of doing what she was told and killing Jason...

She sighed, aggravated. "Excuse me!" she called over the numerous amounts of people in the room. "I don't know if you stopped to consider who it was who lead you here, but the fact of the matter is, I would be in a position to help all of you if I were untied."

She paused. "Unless you want to be in someone else's body until it kills you."

Hm, perhaps threatening wasn't the best way to go. Switching tactics, she added, "Besides, if I don't get her where she needs to be," she said, inclining her head towards Julie, "a lot more people could be in danger than just you."
